Cascade Christian Childbirth: A Birth Doula Training & Certification program to fully equip you to serve young families in this unique way.
At Cascade Christian Childbirth, we are committed to equipping birth doulas with the highest standards of training, ensuring they meet Maryland Medicaid requirements for reimbursement eligibility, should we be approved. Our comprehensive curriculum provides the essential education, hands-on skills, and ethical foundation required to serve diverse families with evidence-based, faith-based, compassionate, and culturally competent doula care.
Cascade Christian Childbirth’s birth doula training and certification program adheres to the core competencies outlined by Maryland Medicaid, including:
1. Comprehensive Doula Training (Core Curriculum Requirements)
• The Role of the Doula: History, scope of practice, ethical considerations, and professional standards.
• Physiology of Pregnancy & Birth: Stages of labor, medical interventions, complications, and postpartum recovery.
• Comfort Measures & Labor Support: Non-medical pain relief techniques, positioning, relaxation, and partner involvement.
• Breastfeeding & Infant Feeding Support: Basics of lactation, formula feeding considerations, and evidence-based best practices.
• Cultural Humility & Inclusive Care: Training on serving diverse populations, reducing health disparities, and understanding the unique needs of Medicaid recipients.
• Trauma-Informed Care & Mental Health Considerations: How to support clients with past trauma, perinatal mental health awareness, and appropriate referrals.
2. Practical Skills & Hands-On Training
• Birth Simulations & Role-Playing: Real-world practice for effective labor support.
• Client Communication & Advocacy: How to empower and educate expectant families.
• Medical System Navigation: Understanding hospital and home birth protocols, informed consent, and shared decision-making.
3. Certification & Competency Evaluation
• Supervised Birth Attendance: Completion of a required number of birth support hours.

4. Medicaid Compliance & Documentation Training

Requirements for Certification
Minimum Steps for certification as a Certified Christian Birth Doula:
1. Become a member and enroll in the program
2. Complete either the in-person or online training
3. Attend 3 births with evaluations from mother
4. Pass a basic knowledge test
For Experienced Doulas
1. Become a member and enroll in the program
2. Complete supplemental training (virtual or in-person)
3. Pass basic knowledge test
Enroll using PayPal
In Person Training $575
This is the preferred method of becoming trained and certified, so that you can get hands-on practice for the various comfort measures you will need to know how to do.
I am willing to travel to you to have a training in your town. A minimum of five paying students is what is necessary to have an out of town training.
Virtual Training $400
It is understandable that not everyone can travel in order to take a training. To help get your training done, the virtual option is an alternative to the in-person training. It will be either in a weekend format or over the course of 8 weeks, with 2 hours a session for each week.
Experienced Doulas $200
For those of you wishing to add a Christian designation to your credentials, Cascade will honor your previously held certification and supplement that with content unique to Cascade. This can be done virtually or in person and can be arranged for individual instruction or for a group.
